Determination
Sarah Todd Hammer and Jennifer Starzec were paralyzed by a rare condition called Transverse Myelitis when they were 8 and 13 years old. You read about what happened when they were first struck by the disease and their journeys to dance and run again in 5k, Ballet, and a Spinal Cord Injury, but that was just the beginning.
Now Sarah Todd and Jen are older, and they are learning how to cope with the lasting effects of this disorder. An excellent continuation of the original book, Determination recounts the girls’ lives post-TM from June 2012 to July 2014, and is a story of friendship, as well as one that illustrates how both successes and failures continuously shaped them as they grew and matured.

This sequel to their original book is just as fantastic! The maturity of these two young women to address a very complicated & rare neurological disease is amazing. More than that their "determination" to work incredibly hard physically, mentally & spiritually to continue to thrive in the face of extreme difficulties is inspirational to all people that suffer with very serious chronic illnesses. They are both my heroes in the respect of never giving up hope, just pushing forward & embracing their dreams!

This was a most inspiring read. I have a better understanding of what the girls endured and had to deal with along with others afflicted with TM. Both girls are amazing for what they have accomplished in their young lives and their hopes and dreams for the future and their desire to help others.
